Lighting design
Good lighting is three layers: ambient, task and accent, each on its own dimmer. We lay out the cans, run the low-voltage for under-cabinet strips and set the scenes so the kitchen looks like the photo at 7 pm, not like a dentist’s office.

Kitchen and living-room remodels, Eichlers with original surface-mount fixtures, and anyone replacing halogen cans with dimmable LED.
What is included
- Lighting plan drawn on your floor plan: fixture count, spacing, beam angles
- Recessed LED cans, 2700–3000K, CRI 90+, on compatible dimmers
- Under-cabinet and toe-kick LED tape with hidden drivers
- Pendant and sconce circuits, boxes rated for the fixture weight
- Lutron Caséta or RadioRA scenes if you want them
- Patch-ready holes only: we cut clean and small

We walk the room at the time of day you use it most and sketch the plan on the spot.

Plan and fixtures
You approve the layout and pick fixtures; we order dimmers to match.

Rough and set
Cans cut, cables run through the attic or slab chase, drivers hidden in cabinets.
- Day 3
Trim and scenes
Trims in, dimmers programmed, scenes named on the keypad.

Questions we get on this job.
Can you add cans to an Eichler with no attic?
Yes, with surface-mount or shallow-recess LED fixtures and wiring run above the tongue-and-groove ceiling through the roof cavity or in a slim channel. We have done this on dozens of Fairbrae and Fairwood homes.
How many cans does a kitchen need?
Fewer than most people install. A 200 sq ft kitchen usually wants six to eight 4-inch cans plus under-cabinet task light, not fourteen.
Which dimmers work with LED?
Ones listed by the fixture maker. Mismatched dimmers flicker. We only install tested pairs.
