How we work
Most paint jobs fail before the can is open. We spend the first day on prep, the second on primer, and the color you chose on a test wall before it goes on all four.
Sample figures for a demo business.
Services
Interior and exterior painting.
Interior painting
Walls, ceilings, trim and doors. Furniture moved, floors covered, rooms back by dinner.
2–5 days
02Exterior painting
Wash, scrape, sand, prime, caulk, two coats. Stucco, wood siding and Eichler panels.
4–9 days
03Cabinet refinishing
Doors off, sprayed in our shop, boxes sprayed on site. A factory finish, not a brushed one.
5–7 days
04Decks & fences
Pressure wash, brighten, sand, then a penetrating stain that soaks in instead of peeling off.
2–3 days
05Color consultation
Ninety minutes in your home with large drawdowns, in your light. Included with every interior job.
90 min
How a job runs
A living room, day by day.
A typical three-room interior. Exteriors run the same order over more days.
- Day 0
Walk & written estimate
We measure the walls, check the surfaces and put the preparation and painting work in a written estimate.
Ends with: scope and start date - Day 1
Protect
Furniture to the center and wrapped. Floors papered, outlets taped, fixtures bagged.
Ends with: a room you can’t spill on - Day 1–2
Prep
Nail pops, cracks and dings filled and sanded. Trim caulked. Glossy surfaces de-glossed.
Ends with: surfaces that hold paint - Day 2
Prime & test wall
Stain-blocking primer where it’s needed. Your color on one wall so you see it in your light.
Ends with: your sign-off - Day 3–4
Two coats
Cut in by brush, rolled with 3/8" nap. Second coat only after the first has cured.
Ends with: full coverage, no flashing - Day 5
Walk-through
Furniture back, tape off, touch-ups in raking light. You keep a labeled quart of each color.
Ends with: warranty in writing

What neighbors say when the tape comes off.
“They painted a test wall and I changed my mind. No sigh, no charge. The second color is the one in the photo.”
“Eichler with forty years of layers. They scraped it to wood where it mattered and told us where it didn’t.”
“Cabinets came back from the shop looking factory-made. Hinges adjusted, soft-close still soft.”

FAQ
Straight answers.
How long until you can start?
Usually five to six weeks for interiors, six to eight for exteriors in spring and summer. Cabinet jobs can often slot in sooner because the doors are sprayed in our shop.
Do I have to pick the color before you quote?
No. The estimate is for the surfaces and the prep. Color comes after, in the consult, and you can change it up to the test wall.
Do you move furniture?
Yes, anything two people can carry. Pianos, aquariums and heirloom glass stay where they are and get wrapped in place.
Can we stay in the house?
Yes. We work room by room, use low- or zero-VOC paint, and leave each room usable at the end of the day.
What areas do you serve?
Palo Alto and the Mid-Peninsula: Menlo Park, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Stanford, Atherton, Portola Valley and Woodside.
