Estimates and color

How does the estimate work?

We walk the job with you, measure every surface and send a written scope after the site visit: rooms, surfaces, prep, coats, days on site. Color is chosen after, so the estimate never waits on it.

Do I have to pick the color before you quote?

No. The estimate covers the surfaces and the prep. Color comes in the consult and you can change it up to the test wall on day two.

Is the color consult really included?

With every interior job, yes. On its own it is a 90-minute visit with drawdowns, for people painting themselves.

Can you match a color from a chip or another brand?

Yes. We match any Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams or Farrow & Ball color in the line we are using, and we keep a quart of the result for you.

Timing

How long until you can start?

Five to six weeks for interiors, six to eight for exteriors in the spring and summer rush. Cabinet jobs can slot in sooner because the doors are sprayed in our shop.

How long does a job take?

A three-room interior, four to five days. A whole-house exterior, four to nine days depending on size and prep. Cabinets, about a week. Every estimate says the number for your job.

What time do you arrive?

Seven thirty, and we are out by five thirty. We do not work Sundays.

On the job

Do you move furniture?

Yes, anything two people can carry. Pianos, aquariums and heirloom glass stay put and get wrapped in place.

Can we stay in the house?

Yes. We work room by room, use low- or zero-VOC paint, and leave every room usable at the end of the day.

My house is pre-1978. What changes?

We are lead-safe certified. Wet scraping, ground sheets and HEPA clean-up on any exterior prep, and we test painted surfaces before sanding inside.

Afterwards

What is the warranty?

Ask about workmanship and product coverage. The applicable terms and conditions belong in your written proposal.

What do I keep?

A labeled quart of every color, the written color schedule and the warranty. Enough to touch up a scuff or match a wall in ten years.
