About
Heating and cooling services, close to home.
No commission salespeople, no subcontracted installs. Here's who shows up and what's behind the license number.
The owner
Daniel Okafor started with one van and a borrowed vacuum pump.
Northwind Air is a fictional Santa Clara heating and cooling business in this showcase. This space is reserved for the owner’s introduction, team details and verified experience.
Today there are nine of us: six technicians, two installers and Rosa, who answers the phone and knows most customers by their street. The shop is on Walsh Avenue, ten minutes from almost everywhere we work.
License and cover
The paperwork, out loud.
CSLB-style C-20 warm-air heating, ventilating and air-conditioning license. Sample number for this showcase site.
Contractor's bond on file as the state requires, so a dispute never leaves you holding the bag.
General liability and workers' compensation for every technician on your property. Certificates sent on request before the job.
Every technician holds the federal refrigerant-handling certificate. It's required by law, and we'll show the card.
Technicians sit the industry's independent exams and keep the hours up each year.
Every replacement is permitted with the city and HERS-tested. If a contractor offers to skip it, that's the quote to walk away from.
Comfort guarantee
If a repair doesn't hold for a full year, we make it right.
We come back and fix it at no charge. Equipment also carries the manufacturer's own parts warranty, and the full terms are written into your proposal.
How we price
Three steps, nothing hidden.
- 1
Diagnose first
A technician measures and tests. You see the readings on the meter, not a sales sheet.
- 2
Written options
Repair and replace side by side, each a fixed price with permit, test and haul-away included. No pressure to decide that day.
- 3
One crew, one day
Our own installers, drop cloths down, equipment running and the thermostat on your phone before we leave.
