Questions
Asked on most site walks.
Is a furnace still the right choice in Santa Clara?
For many homes a heat pump now does both jobs. If you want to keep gas, a two-stage furnace is the honest pick. We quote both when it is close.
How do I know mine is at the end?
Cracked heat exchangers show up on a combustion test. Age over 20 years and repeated igniter or board failures are the other signs.
Will it be quieter?
Yes. Two-stage furnaces run on low most of the hour, which is the noise you stop noticing.
