The case
What the house needed.
Two EVs, a 125 A panel with four spare spaces, and no appetite for a service change. The owners had been quoted a panel upgrade twice. We ran the load calculation and found room for one 60 A circuit, not two.
What we did
- One 60 A breaker, 6 AWG copper in EMT along the garage wall to two power-sharing chargers.
- The chargers split 48 A between them: one car charging gets all of it, two cars get 24 A each. Both are full by six.
- Mounted at the right height for each car's charge port, cables reach without crossing the floor.
- Permit, inspection, utility EV rate enrolment done in the same week.
Why not a panel upgrade
Because the calculation did not need one. We will tell you when it does, and we will tell you when it does not.
Next: a site walk.
Forty minutes at your panel. We leave you a written scope, the permit path and a start date. Prices come after the walk, never before.
